Why I will contribute to Akamas

Sir,

Sometimes it's very difficult for outsiders to understand the situation in Cyprus. The reaction of the Education Ministry to Panicos Chrysanthou's achievement in presenting his film Akamas at the Venice Film Festival is really astonishing for me as a foreigner.

Maybe the government's stance is legal, but in Germany, for instance, the government would give some more money instead and present itself as generous.

As a foreigner, it's not for me to comment this different behaviour, but as a foreigner, too, I'm interested in learning more about Cyprus. And therefore I'm interested in the presenting of Akamas in Venice (and perhaps, following up on German TV) and will contribute towards achieving this.

If a lot of people put some money together it will perhaps be enough to pay the bill of Panicos' copy-studio in Hungary. I will give my part and hope others will do so as well.
